چکیده
Nowadays, with the progressing of textile technology, advanced machines with various adjustment capabilities have been produced and used. Different settings on the weaving machine have a significant impact on the weave conditions, weaveability, yarn breakage, and ultimately the quality of the produced fabric. One of the important factors in fabric weaving, with respect to machine settings, is weaving resistance, which means the resistance of the cloth fell against the beat up force to achieve the maximum weft density in the machine, which, in addition to machine settings, depends on the yarn type and count, beat up force, and machine geometry.

In this study, the effect of three factors, weft yarn count, back rest roller height, and shed closing time, each at three levels, on the cloth fell position and, consequently, weaving resistance, was investigated. Therefore, in general, the amount of cloth fell position during weaving was examined in 27 cases, each of which was performed at the maximum achievable weft density. Using the Greenwood and Cowhig empirical relationship, the weaving resistance was calculated in each of the cases. Also, the possible increase in weft density during weaving was measured for each of the 27 conditions, and the effect of weft density on the value of cloth fell position and weaving resistance was also examined. The results show that coarser weft yarn and decreasing the back rest roller height from +1 to 0 increases the amount of cloth fell position and, as a result, the weaving resistance. Further reduction of the height from 0 to -1 increases weaveability (reduces weaving resistance). Varying the shed closing time did not have significant effect on increasing the value of cloth fell position and weaving resistance. It can say that increasing weft density reduces weaveability and consequently increases weaving resistance.
