This research aimed to enhance the alignment, coherence, and mechanical strength of nylon yarn by coating it with polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers using an innovative pin electrospinning technique. The study also focused on identifying and analyzing the parameters that influence the efficiency and optimization of continuous electrospun nanofiber coating processes. To achieve this, PAN nanofibers were electrospun onto nylon yarn using a pin electrospinning system equipped with a rotating cone maker. Key factors affecting the coating rate and the morphology of the nanofiber-coated yarn were systematically examined. The results indicated that the nanofiber coating on nylon yarn improved with higher applied voltage, increased spinning solution concentration, faster spinner rotation, and higher speeds of the cone maker and collector. Conversely, increasing the distance between the positive and negative electrodes reduced the extent of nanofiber coating. This study successfully demonstrated the continuous production of nylon yarn coated with PAN nanofibers at a speed of 20 cm/min with a production rate of 0.588 g/h. This represents a tenfold increase in production efficiency compared to conventional electrospinning techniques under similar conditions.
